A Slat frame is a very simple style of frame that can only be used when working with a canvas.
The frame consists of two slats of wood, the inner painted black, and the outer usually
left a natural color, arranged in a stairstep pattern. The slats are then nailed into the
canvas from the side since there is no lip to hold the art in place from the front. This
creates a very minimalist look that allows the entire surface of the painting to be seen.
